Jim Royer, Owner

Jim Royer has over 30 years of experience in construction and development with 20 of those years as founding principal of J Development Company. He leads the company and his team with honesty as a driving force. Jim’s extensive knowledge of construction intricacies has been vital to meeting project deadlines, budgets, and the overall success of many projects. His nuanced understanding of zoning, contracting, project management, and state and city ordinances have allowed J Development Company to succeed and grow in many directions. While the company's project list is long, completion of the Stephen Center HERO building is a career highlight that led to incredible ongoing projects with innovative, vital non-profits. When not doing what he loves professionally, Jim likes to spend time with family, cooking and grilling. Fishing is a hobby he’s enjoyed with his dad since he was a child, and now continues the tradition with his kids and grandkids.

Jeana Matcha, Director of Operations

Jeana Matcha loves being a part of the J Development Company team, and has been an integral part of the company since 2009. She manages the office, and supports all that’s needed to see their projects come to life, from idea to execution and everything in-between. When away from work, Jeana is spending time with her husband and son, and often playing volleyball or fishing. She looks forward to fishing trips with her father every year.

Valerie Citro, Director of Property Management

Valerie Citro has been with J Development since 2022. Valerie has a decade of experience in the multi-family industry, overseeing large and diverse portfolios consisting of conventional, affordable, and mixed-use properties. At J Dev, Valerie’s focus is to design and implement company policies, procedures, and best practices to strengthen operations for maximum efficiency and profitability. She is directly responsible for overseeing all on-site personnel, daily operations, marketing efforts, asset management, budget analytics, and overall property performance to meet Ownership objectives. Valerie is passionate about being a motivational leader and coaching her team to meet both their professional and personal goals. She supports her team through continued mentorship, team building, training, and retention efforts. Valerie received her Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designation in 2016 and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation in 2020 from the National Apartment Association. Valerie also obtained her Iowa Salesperson License in 2020 and was awarded Regional Manager of the Year from the Nebraska Apartment Association in 2022. When not at work, Valerie enjoys spending time with her family, biking and cheering on the Huskers and Packers football teams.
